Geng Gunung yg setia

1st Task

You have to answer 10 simple questions

Q1-Q4: A simple maths calculation (even kindergarten school children can answer this)
Q5: What is the height of KL Tower?
Q6: How many levels of Tower Head available at KL Tower?

Q12: Where is Dewan Perdana Felda is located?

Isn't that simple? Hahaha...answers just around the KL Tower.

2nd Task

You need to go to the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve or known as taman Eko Rimba KL to find the next clue. But before that, u need to answer 5 types of trees you may found at this Eko Rimba. Actually, me n my partner did not read the insruction properly... we answered all the questions. We're supposed to answer one part only....hahaha. Takpelah, tak susah pun... the answers are already available at the trees and herbs information board. It is just that we already wasting our 5 minutes there.

Not yet finished... we need to go to the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve field to find the next clue. The task is you need to find a treasure with the help of compass and bearing given. We skipped this task since I couldn't stand to see people destroyed the soil. Kata forest reserve tapi kasi task macam nak hancurkan nyer plak... emmhhh.

3rd task

After that we proceed to Museum Telecom for our next clue.
From KL tower we took a shortcut thru Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve to Telekom Museum... 15minutes juga lah berlari. But this time I still full of energy... so memang layan lah. I think this my first time been here. Usually I only knew it... as I passed by the Museum but never thought of visiting it. But today, just for the sake of the KL Heriatge Xplorace... I had to.
Our first task here was to answer 5 simples questions and all about the History of Telecom. The anwers are just inside the Museum.... all u need was to run and find the right answers.
This time we need to answer 5 questions about History of Telecommunications.
Q1: In what year was the first telegraph submarine cable linking Malaysia and Indonesia built?
Q2: Who and what year was the telephone invented?
Q3: In what yeara was the first telephone excahge installed in Kuala Lumpur?
Q4: Who and what year was the radio invented?
Q5: In what year was the first Royal Malaysia Radio that linked Pulau Ketam to Port Klang made?

After we succefully finished answering the 5 questions, next, we need to go down and complete the next task for our next clue. Task nyer... with the help of tradiotional sumpit, you need to shoot one of the 5 ballons about 3 meters just in front of you. Alhamdulillah, I managed to hit the target on the 2nd trial. Got 10 marks and proceed with the next clue.

4th Task

Proceed to the "The Big Ben of Malaysia"... located at Sultan Abdul Samad Building. The task is we need to do Chinese Traditional Dragon Dance to get to the next clue. Apa lagi kena menari lah...luckily aku tukang kipas jer... orang lain kena jadi Naga yea... hihihi. Tak kisah lah sape2 pun...yang penting kerjasama. My first time to do these kind of dance... anyway it was fun.

Dragon Dance

5th Task

We need to go to Dayabumi or previously known as Petronas Headquaters. The task was simple where you need to complete a jigsaw puzzle within 2 minutes. Yes, we did within the 2 minutes but the time keeper said that we already exceeding it. I think he started counting when we're still not ready yet. He supposed to shout 1,2,3 next time... eergghhh. We still got the next clue but not full marks for our task. Whatever.

6th task

The next clue… we need to go to the field where the Union flag was lowered and Malaysia Flag was hoisted for the first time at the Midnight of 31st August 1957. Dataran Merdeka lah. The task for this….bowling padang. You need to aim 5 bottles with 5 old coconuts. You will get 2 marks for each drop. We dropped only four…so 8 marks only. Ok lah tu.

Fast Forward Task

If you performed this task, you can skip one task and jump to the next one. Not only that… you will save your time a lot. We did try but of course not me, my partner. Thanks for giving a try. Can u imagine… standing underneath the sun just waiting for fast forward task… raising the flag by using either your forehead or shoulder. We stand for about half an hour just for our turn. We almost done but still failed when my partner almost reaching the finishing line. He really worked hard for that but maybe not our luck, so, we had to proceed to the next clue.

This is the Fast Forward Task

Long Queue just to try your luck in fast Forward

7th Task

Proceed to DBKL for our next task and clue. Actually if we did the Fast Forward task we can skip this task. This time the task was only to answer 5 questions related to DBKL.

Q1: Who’s launching the DBKL Building?
Q2: When it was launched?
Q3: Who’s the first Mayor?
Q4: What is the slogan for DBKL?
Q5: How many “Keris” in DBKL Logo?

All the anwers you can get by asking at the receptionist or you can find at the entrance of the building.

8th Task
The next clue… we need to go to Chandran Florist stall selling Bunga Malai which is located at Jalan Masjid India. I knew this place. The task is you need to do Kalung Bunga Malai as displayed… not a big one just a small one. My mistake… I didn’t see properly how they tie-in the flower to the rope, so, we didn’t get full mark.

9th Task

After finished the task, we need to go to another place while briging the Bunga Malai together to complete the task. The place was just outside the Traditional Malay costume shop along masjid India. What u need to do is… you need to wear Complete Malay costume “Baju Melayu”. Guess what??? I was the one who wearing the costume not my partner. The reason, cepat skit kalau pompuan yg pakai. Since we’re running out of time, I’ll just wear it with the help of my partner and the result… macam orang tak cukup umur pakai baju Melayu… besar gedabak… hahaha. Never mind… just to get the clue for the next task.

1oth Task
Our next task… we need to go to Pre-war buildings just nearby Sheraton Imperial Hotel. It takes us 20 minutes to get there and we had to walk very fast since we only have 1 hour left to finish the race. We arrived there and we need to complete a simple task to get the next clue. The task is you need to move 50 peanuts with the help of chopstick into another pot within 2 minutes. Of course it will time consuming if we take one by one but what we did was… every time we moved the peanuts we carry about 5 to 6 and even more in one time. And we managed to complete it within 40 seconds only, bravo.

11th Task

Next clue we need to go to Dewan Tuanku Abdul Rahman which is the building where Malayan Parliament Conference was first held. But, it was long time ago but now this buiding serves as the tourism information center. We need to register in the guest book and just then we got our next task. The task is... Dancing.

I luv this task. My first time to dance the Sarawak Heritage… Ngajat Dance. After almost 10 years I left my traditional scholl dance… now I’m back. It was really enjoyable and wonderful experience dance Ngajat along with Ngajat song by Noraniza Idris. Although it was only for 2 minutes but it was fun. After that we need to go to the field just outside the building the find the next clue but before that we need to answer 5 questions related to MaTIC. All the answers are just around that area and you need to figure out yourself.

Kelakar pulak bila playback video part nie :D

Last Task
The last one... we need to get back to KL Tower to finish the last task. During this time, each of us already tired and we just walk all the way to the KL Tower. As we reached there, we still had 15 minutes left before the race end. So, we decided to report first before perform absailing to get an xtra points and get the last stamp.

All pass

After that we proceed to one side at KL Tower to perform absailing for extra 10 points. I was the one who did for my team n also Huzz. Kay kata nyer sakit kaki. It was fun although it was only 5 meters height. My first time too. After this, I want to try the more challenging one.

Absailing, extra 10 points

Last one is the price giving ceremony. Although we knew that we will not get any chance to win but still we came to give support to our new friends, reporters and our Malaysian artist. The winner goes to Iron Man. Congrats.

The winner goes to... Iron Man

Although we managed to complete all the tasks given within the given time but still we did not win the race. Too many contestants and I could see everyone is working hard for the race. It was like everyone is aimed for the champion. I really proud of myself for giving a try and pushing my partner until the end of the race.

Tabur Hill

18th Febrary 2011
Klang Gate Dam
Taman Melawati, KL

6 years back…

Bukit Tabur, I still remembered 6 years ago…this is my first hill I started to climb. Actually, that time I didn’t know that we’re supposed to hiking, initial plan was just to see area around there for our sport and react club next activity. Suddenly, they changed the plan and we had to follow our Club president decision. Since we’re already there, I had no other choice other than to follow them… without any preparation… if not, I have to wait inside the car until they’re all back. Fuhh…ni bukan keje main2 nie… mak aku pun tak tahu aku nak gi buat activity extreme nie. Follow je lah. Luckily lah aku ni jenis active kat UIA dulu so takde lah semput sangat. And I still remembered that it was my first time... I started to like Hiking. OMG... the beautiful view really enthusiast me to be there again.

But…. that was 6 years back. Now, I’m back Tabur just to memorize our memories we kept together not so long time ago. It was wonderful and unforgettable moment witnessed the beautiful nature of God’s creation.

Now…

Actually, aku dah lama planned nak gi Tabur ni dah lama dah but since banyak sangat unforeseen circumstances and plus with so many rumours about Tabur Hill recently… thus, make it one of the unsafe place to go. Since this was my second time to Tabur Hill, I would say “yes, it could be unsafe if we’re not aware of the potentially unsafe it could be”. Anyway, in anything you do, bear in mind “safety comes first”. So, keep these in mind, follow the right person, be careful on certain challenging track, respect the nature and enjoy the beautiful scenery on top. You won’t regret once you up there.

Since most of my friends were their first time, so, we decided to meet somewhere so that we can go together. Initially, Meeza planned to meet at Restoran Choice but since most of us not so familiar with Taman Melawati area, so, we changed venue to meet at BHP station around 6.45 a.m and from there, then, we will meet our guide Khairil Yusree Yusof…sedap nyer nama dia (out of topic jap) or a.k.a Uteh, which is friend of Meeza at Restoran Choice. But still… few of us lost their way to the BHP… macam-macam. Hopefully next time, please be punctual yea my dear friends. Study map dulu.

How to get there?

Not so hard to find the direction to here. Just follow the GPS if you do have Garmin or whatever GPS devices that can bring you there or kalau yang takde tu just Google Map. Just find “Klang Gate Dam” and it will drive you all the way to the starting point.

Area to park your car

Starting Point

Let’s begin...

We started around 8 a.m and it took us 2 & half hours to reach on top. Maybe, the time can be improved if we reduce the time of taking photos. But, ini lah yang wajib, kenangan beb. How can I miss every beautiful things around me.

Most of the track you’ll find easy but only at certain part it could be very-very challenging where you may need your full strength to get to the next level. And certain track you need a rope to support you so that you can proceed. But, don’t forget to be extra careful in every steps and moves you make. And if possible don’t take shortcut yea, try every challenging track, just then you will really feel the challenge. Insyallah everything will be fine if we stay alert.

On the way back, we took a different route. More easy and relax. But you still have an option if you want to follow the same route from where you came. If you ask me, I don’t think I will follow the same route on the way back and I guaranteed most of people also will agree with that. Why? The reason could be from the track photos. Enjoyyyy.

Beginning of the track

Halfway only... but already seen the gorgeous view

Sunrise view from the other side

Sunrise... Subhanallah

Cantik nyerr

Track to the top

The rocky trail

Next track

KLCC and KL Tower view from Tabur Hill

We're on top of one of the Peak

Klang Gate Dam.... just behind me

Beautiful track

Ist obstacle, you need rope to go down... but, you still have an option to
follow the easy route but.... not challenging lah

Met this Uncle on the way to the next peak
Support Him to save Taman Melawati Hill

Next Obstacle... a few accidents did happened here
So, be extra careful

Awesome view from the other side

Next... we're heading there

Next Track... yang ni biase2 jer... turun lepas tu kena naik balik

Track ni pun tough juga... malu plak kena minta tolong orang mase nie sebab kaki tak panjang

You could see this beautiful origami hanging on the tree

On the other side you could see UIA.... really missed Uia

One of the tough track... you have to get thru this to the next level

We're almost there... final peak

We stopped till here... taking photos & enjoying the nice view

Twilight Zone

All the way down was descending and when you almost reached down the hill you will pass thru the fruit orchard.

We reached down around 12pm macam tu.

Overall, I really enjoyed hiking at Bukit Tabur and hopefully will go there more often after this.

My advise…

Next time if you all really wanted to go there, please be there early or else you will suffer the direct exposure from sunrise. The best time to start 6.30am or 7am. So that, once you on top still windy and not yet hot.

Jelawang Part 5 - Last Day

3rd Feb 2011
Jelawang waterfall

Day 4: Jelawang Peak Waterfall

Seawal 6 pagi kami dah bangun, bersihkan diri and buat apa yang patut and then duduk menonggok lagi di puncak Air terjun Jelawang. Same activity like yesterday, amik gambar lagi and tunggu carpet awan keluar. Sungguh menghampakan… kabus dah banyak dah tapi tak naik2 pun sampai ke puncak… and we could see it accumulated on the other side of our place….tukar port lah plak awan nie. Maybe not our lucky day. Tapi takpe tunggu sunrise pun menarik juga sambil2 tu buat photoshoot session yang tak sudah2 from all of us. Seriuosly sangat cantik view from top of Jelawang waterfall. I wish I could stay there every morning just to see the spectacular view.

Setia menanti awan yang tak kunjung tiba

Best juga kan kalu hari2 pun macam nie

Sunrise but no sign of carpet awan

Bila lah agak nyer awan ni nak buat magic

Since, no sign of carpet awan, kami dengan kecewa nyer pun balik ke campsite and prepare breakfast for our last day today. Menu pagi tu cuma Meehun, telur dadar n cucur jer. Buat alas perut because before 12pm nak makan lunch pulak and also packing for trip back to Resort.

Prepare for breakfast

After breakfast, we continued our last activity, mandi2 di Jelawang waterfall. After 1 hour, we returned back to our campsite, having lunch and packed everything for trip back to Jelawang Resort. But this time, Uncle Adam promised to bring us crossing the waterfall that we missed it 2 days ago due to weather. The reason... if it is rain, we cannot crossing the waterfall because too dangerous since the water from top cannot be predicted.

Our last day at Baha's Camp

Luckily, on the way back, the condition on that time allowed us to pass thru the waterfall. Alhamdulillah, finally we got the chance to witness the beautiful of the highest waterfall in southeast Asia from kaki gunung Jelawang. Memang sungguh memukau. I guaranteed, you will not gonna miss these wonderful moment. We spend about 20 minutes there, relax and of course captured the beautiful moments there. Rarely people get this chances, so, make the best of your time when you were there. Taking photos and of course having fun.

View Jelawang Waterfall

Unforgettable moment

Actually the track thru the jelawang waterfall is much shorter and less tougher compare to the track thru Jungle. It saved 3o minutes of your time.

Crossing the stream

After descend from Jelawang waterfall peak, masing2 pun mandi2 n buat apa2 yang patut. After that, we proceeded to RnR Dabong, having dinner before balik. On the way nak turun tu, sempat Abe Van kami stop kat satu tempat where you can see the view of Jelawang waterfall from far. Sempat abe nie kasi tahu, kalu kita tengok dekat2, actually we could see a “face”, air yang jatuh dari peak Jelawang tu actually air yang jatuh dari dahi turun ke hidung and both side of the waterfall, boleh nampak seakan-akan mata. Haah lah... tapi sebenar nyer aku ambik masa juga nak imagine apa yang dia cakap kan tu….mase dah turun bawah tu baru aku perasan, itupun after aku zoom in photo captured in my camera.

Can u see the Jelawang waterfall just behind of us

Jelawang waterfall Close-up mode... do u notice something?

Tahu tak macam mana “Dabong” ni dapat nama. According to our Van driver, long long time ago ade seorang Mat Salleh nie kasi nama kat sungai yang menghubung kan estet nyer. Mat Salleh ni kasi nama Double River tapi faham2 lah orang kelate nie nak sebut pun susah kan…so, lama2 “double” pun become “Dabong”. So, macam tu lah citer nyer.

After makan, kita orang proceed to Dabong railway station…mase tu dalam pukul 6.30 petang sudah. Oppss…lupa plak ade tempat yang kami tak snap photo lagi, jeng jeng jeng… signboard Dabong yang terletak kat simpang jalan. Apa lagi kami pun minta lah abe driver stop jap and snap a few photos. Not only that, kami patah balik sebab ter miss lagi satu beautiful port nak amik photo…atas jalan yang menghubungkan Dabong n Jelawang. Kalau kita orang tak nampak grup Azli n geng stop kt situ memang tak terfikir pun nak patah balik tapi Abang Van dah cakap kat situ boleh nampak 9 peaks, so, apa lagi… "abang boleh patah balik tak". Nasib baik lah Abe ni sporting giler. Memang layann lah.

Welcome to Dabong

Actually, you can view clearly the nine peaks only if u were on the bridge….but that time there was thick cloud, so, we can only viewed a few peaks only….emmmhh ok lah maybe not our lucky day to witness the 9 peaks. Next time….Insyallah.

View nine peaks from the bridge

Day 4: Dabong Train Station

By the time sampai, sempat lah juga kita orang shopping kat kedai Uncle Adam, the only kedai yang ade kat Dabong which u can shopping. Ok lah kedai ni, complete with souveniers for pelancong jakun macam kami ni. Kita orang semua sepakat beli t-shirt Mount Stong color biru sebagai kenang-kenangan. Aku sempat grabbed sticker keter yang ade photo 9 peaks which u can view from the bridge yang menghubung kan Dabong n Jelawang.

The Bridge that connects the two lands

Our train scheduled to be at 9.30pm, so, since we still have one hour before the train arrival, we all make use of our time taking group photos at Dabong train station but that time already dark but still we have fun. Mase mula2 sampai dulu semua pun macam tak kisah sangat nak amik gambar kat Dabong train signboard dah time balik ni baru lah ingat nak amik gambar yea… nak tunjuk t-shirt baru lah tu.

Before train arrives, we still had a chance to chit chat with Uncle Adam for the last time and He still reminded us to keep our promises to come in Jelawang again and conquered all the nine peaks. Insyallah Uncle, I already fall in love with Jelawang… how can I forget that. Ok, I’ll try my best to keep that and make sure the rest of Geng Gunung also remember that as well. Rajin betul Uncle nie, send us sampai train datang.

Dabong Train station... before we departured

Dabong Train Station during night

Train arrived as per scheduled and this time most of us taking the Koc E1 where you can have sleeping bed for the next 12 hours travel. My sleeping port still the same… the upper bed. It’s OK, still, I had a good night sleep all the way back to KL plus with beautiful dreams.

- The End -
