Studio Jalan Ampas... In Memory

Jalan Ampas, Singapore
Saturday, 21 Dec 2013

Continue from previous post...

From Bugis Street, we walked for 10 minutes to the nearest MRT, Bugis Station. Our target this morning was Studio Jalan Ampas. Actually, aku tak buat research pun pasal tempat ni, I knew it was located at Jalan Ampas but no idea what is happening now.

Macam mana nak ke sini?
  • Hotel Feel at Home – MRT Bugis – Outram Park (Interchange Station) – Punggol (SGD 2.70)
  • From Punggol, take Bus 142 to Toa Payoh Stadium (SGD 1.30)
  • Dari Station Bus, kena jalan sikit ke kanan – masuk taman – cross expressway (pakai jejantas) – cross Whampoa river
  • Lepas tu kena follow laluan tepi longkang besar until jumpa Lorong Ampas

Masa kami turun jer dari Bas tu, memang agak lost sekejap sebab kalau follow map... last instruction was “walk until the end of the road”... that’s it. Masalahnya, which side?? and end of the road ade simpang. So, jangan percaya bulat-bulat sangat kat Map yea. Kami pun tanyelah sorang chinese guy, his kind & siap google kan map untuk kami ke sini. Instruction dia memang dah betul tapi sebab kami tak familiar dengan jalan kat situ kami pun siap nak patah balik jer sebab rasa macan dah lost hope. Tapi nasib baiklah on the way return tu kami terserempak dengan sorang kakak ni. And paling penting, dia tahu tempat ni & kebetulan juga memang sehala on the way nak balik ke rumah dia. She sent us betul-betul sampai kat depan Studio ni.

Inilah Jalan Ampas yang terkini

Jalan Ampas in Memory

Unfortunately what we found was the Jalan Ampas far from its glorious days. Dalam fikiran aku masa tu, I thought this Studio was a Museum. Rupanya dulu-dulu memang pernah open to Public, sekarang ni dah tak available for visitors sebab dah jadi private property. Kalau nak amek gambo pun amek kat luar jelah. Tak bolah masuk, OK.

We're finally here

With our new fren, Kak Jamilah

Ingat kan lepas hantar kami ke sini, Kak Jamilah terus balik, rupanya akak ni patah balik semata-mata nak kasi kami “Ferrero Rocher”. Anyway, akak you were so kind & very helpful. Hope to see you again next time to Singapore.

Thanks Kak Jamilah for the chocolate gift

Finally, sampai juga aku ke sini

We returned with a mixed feeling. So sad that we could do nothing to preserve this hidden treasure of Malay Film History. And happy cause mission accomplished & we met a new friend.

Short Trip to Singapore

Actually, this idea came from Cik Gojes. Rasanya, since last year lagi dia ada ajak ke sini... katanya nak tengok view malam kat sini before Christmas. Tapi sebab atas kesungguhan Gojes, tak sampai hati rasanya tak join skali kan.

TBS to Singapore (Konsortium) – RM45 (Drop area: Golden Mile Tower)

Singapore to TBS (Eltabina) – SGD34.50 (Pick-up Area: Opposite to Textile Center & In front of Alsagoff Arab School)

As planned, kami bertolak dari Kajang dengan hanya berbekalkan stuffs for 2D/1N stay and duit poket SGD100. So, to make it simple, this month I really over budget. And sebab tu juga kalau ada invitation for any activities, I have to put aside... priority masa tu hanyalah nak buat persediaan rapi. Ya Allah kau permudahkanlah segalanya.

Our Bus departed from TBS at 12am. Dah namanya pun waktu tidokan, apa lagi membutalah jawabnya sampai ke Destinasi. Another 6 hours to reach Singapore. Dulu masa ke USS, last stop kat Quenstreet Terminal, maybe this station for Bus from Johor to Singapore only. Actual sebenarnya tak sampai 6 jam pun travel duration tapi disebabkan Immigresen, 1 jam jugalah... turun naik angkut bag. Standardlah kan, nama pun nak masuk negara orang.

We reached Golden Mile Tower around 6 a.m. Masa ni dah pusing-pusing jugalah cari Masjid Hajjah Fatimah seperti dalam map, rupanya takdelah jauh sangat cuma oposite to Golden Mile Tower. Cuma perlu menapak sikit jelah. Alhamdulillah, permulaan pagi yang berkat.

Masjid Hajjah Fatimah

After solat, kami pun proceed to our Hotel at Jalan Pinang. Around 20minutes walk dah sampai. But, it was too early to check-in. So, Kami cuma buat payment dulu (SGD45 per pax incl. Deposit) & tumpang letak beg. Kami hanya boleh check-in pukul 2 petang nanti. Yang best nya Hotel ni sangat dekat dengan tempat makan-makan, Restoran Zam-Zam, Victory & Hajjah Maimunah, Masjid Sultan and Kampung Glam.

Ni lah hotel Feel at Home Backpackers

My Review about this Hotel... cukuplah lah kali ni jer. This hotel actually owned by an Indian family. One thing I hate most about this place... the bad smell. Faham-faham jelah kalau dah ade upacara keagamaan dalan Hotel kan. Pening kepala aku tapi bertahan jelah. Space inside the room pun ngam-ngam aje. Luckily, kami stay one night jer... itupun sebab nak tido. Selebih nya kami banyak berjalan-jalan.

Inside the room...

Inside the Hotel

Eventho Toilet dia nampak scary tapi still bersih & OK.

Dulu kami overnight di ABC Hotel, which is to me, much better and cheaper compare to this Hotel.

After that kami proceed pulak ke Zam Zam ala Kazam... tak sabar rasa nya nak breakfast dengan My favourite Murtabak Singapore.

Restoran Zam Zam

Tapi aku rasa kali ni, rasa dia macam dah kureng sikit compare to 2 years back. Emmhhh, tapi sebab kelaparan... redha jelah. Gojes cakap yang dekat JB punya lagi sedap. Tapi sebab dua-dua pun aku dah lama tak makan so, dah lupa kenikmatan itu. Anyway, happy sangat sebab my first checklist for today is done.

Perut pun dah kenyang apa lagi... jom kita menjejak sejarah pulak.
