Jelawang Part 4 - Two peaks Waterfall

2nd Feb 2011
Jelawang Waterfall
Dabong, Kelantan

Day 3: Two peaks waterfall

Seawal 6.15 pagi kami dah bangun, pagi nie dah plan nak duk kat atas Jelawang peak nak saksikan keindahan carpet awan yang macam kat FB Spark a.k.a Azli Salih. Tunggu punye tunggu ade juga lah awan tapi takde lah yang macam dalam gambar Spark tu. Memory card & battery dah banyak abis kat photoshoot session kat peak jer nie…emmhhh. A bit frustrated juga lah because I really wanted to see the magic. Maybe, today is not our day… never mind we still have tomorrow to see the what people so called “carpet awan”. Hopefully, ya. Since, we’ve been waiting for almost one & half hour and nothing happened, so, kita orang pun decide balik kat Camp and prepare for breakfast.

This is what I've been waiting for "carpet awan" but nothing happened during our time there (anyway credit to Azli Salih for this beautiful photo)

Masa tengah masak2 tu, Uncle datang borak2… tanye kalau kita orang nak naik Stong. Aku tak kisah sebenarnyer, memang ade hati pun tapi memikirkan geng2 lain macam tak prepare for this, terpaksa lah lupakan niat aku yang murni tu. Tapi Uncle harap sangat kita orang dapat datang lagi and conquer not only Ayam n Stong but all the nine mounts…. Overall 6 days 5 night juga lah nak kena spend kat Jelawang. And His willing to guide us… maybe Uncle ni nampak kami ni bersungguh-sungguh. Sebelum ni kalu kami gi hiking mana2 semua pun macam tak caya jer kami boleh buat. But, Uncle nie slightly different… He trusted us. Aku tiba2 teruja and bersemangat plak. Insyallah Uncle… selagi ada hayat. We’ll keep that promise. But what makes me wondering, macam mana Uncle Adam tahu our group name “Geng Gunung”, aku surprise juga, everytime pun kalu dia nak panggil kita korang dia akan called it as Geng Gunung. Rupa2 nyer Adeq yang kasi tau cos Uncle adam did asked her and she spontaneously said “Geng Gunung” cos itu je pun yang terkeluar kata nyer. Apa-apa lah, anyway I like.

Breakfast menu as usual… Nasi lemak with Ready made Sambal by Spark, Cucur & Teh “O”. Maybe next time I shud propose other menu to Spark so that ade lah skit variety everytime kita orang gi Camping takde lah menu yang sama jer. Spark pun dah kasi greenlight kat aku suruh propose menu for our next trip…ke mana lah agak nye yea. Kita orang breakfast around 10 a.m and after that prepared for our next trekking to two peaks waterfall.

We're ready for the two peaks waterfall

All you need to bring… as usual drinking water, foods, snacks, raincoat & suitable shoes (recommended rubber shoes) since you will be trekking mostly on the slippery stones and walking thru the water… and not forgetting, you may need to slide too if u taking the waterfall track. Looks challenging right but trust me it was fun… especially the sliding part. I wish I could do again next time. Really missed it.

We started our trip to two peaks waterfall around 11 p.m. And it takes about 1 hour to get there. On the way to highest peak, we first took the jungle track. Only when we almost getting there, just then we started to walk thru the waterfall track to get to the top. The track quite tough and you need to be cautioned all the time. We reached the top around 12 p.m plus and spend about 1 hour there… picnic & taking photos. It was really fantastic to see with your own eyes the beautiful view of the two peaks waterfall… which is the Mount Stong’s peak & Mount Ayam’s peak. Masyallah, Allah has made it the waterfall the perfect one.

First waterfall we met on the way to the top

You have to get thru this on the way to the top

One of the challenging track

We almost there

Waterfall form Mount Ayam's peak

Waterfall from Mount Stong's Peak

We took a different route on the way back to our campsite... crossing the waterfall

On the way back, Uncle Adam guided us thru the waterfall path where at certain places u need to slide to go down. This is really unforgettable moment. Actually, I did this before but it’s different from Jelawang… more fun and more challenging. There is a technique when you want to do the sliding, you need to bend your upper body a bit front and then both your hands should hold your pant or put your both hands at your knees. So, when you slide, it looks safer and nice to see. But, it depends on people, if you think this is not helpful then you can do either way… maybe put your hands both at side and slide… or freestyle, any style that makes you comfortable. But, make sure you must know how to control when you reach down. Looks like I’m doing good haa… but actually not, I preferred the freestyle since I loose control starting from the beginning.

Telaga tujuh... count yourself

Of course the best part is 10 meters Sliding Show. Mase nie ingat kan guys only but suddenly we’ve been challenged by Uncle Adam our Guide, “Jangan panggil Geng Gunung kalu korang semua tak sliding” … Fuhhh terbakar kejap. Apa lagi semua pun letak camera masing2, sahut cabaran Uncle…. Start with Fad, Julie n Adeq. Yang lain standby kt bawah amik video n photos. Guess what? Macam2 aksi boleh tengok…seriously best giler… and aksi aku lah yang paling bahaya. Lepas tu, rase nak buat lagi jer…hehehe. One of my favourite experience ever. Ok lah tu… nampak sangat geng Gunung ni pantang dicabar yea.

Ready your position

Halfway

Finally

Just after successfully sliding... kat belakang tu jer

The sliding show was our last activity for that day. It’s already 5pm and we need to get back to our Camp… changed cloths and prepare for Dinner… our menu that night, western style and Barbeque. Layann.

Jelawang Part 2 - Cave Tour

1st Feb 2011
cave tour

From Uncle Adam's Shop, it took about 15 minutes to these caves. Kita orang naik Van yang telah disediakan oleh Uncle Adam. All you need to bring....as usual...torchlight or headlamp (better), suitable hiking shoes cos they were places where you need hiking, snacks (option), drinking water and last but not least camera to capture unexpected moment.

Gua Ikan... kami tak sempat ke Gua Ikan for caving since not enough time

We arrived at the cave gathering area around 1.30pm, actually by this time it's already late for us yang nak gi Camp Baha to do caving. If you want to do the caving, you need to spend at least 2 hours to really feel the adventure. So, we had been given 2 choices by Uncle Adam... the tough one or the relaxing one. Emmhhh...frankly speaking, actually if we had enough time of cos we wanted to do caving but since we're already running out of time plus the late arrival of our train... we had no choice other than to choose the easier and relaxing tour. Semua pun agreed. Ok, let's go.

Briefing by our guide... Uncle Adam yang memang Best lah

After a short (not really actually) briefing by Uncle Adam, kita orang pun proceed to gua yang hendak dituju... you need to cross the road to these cave and then masuk semak samun dulu... only then you will find the track to first cave. Wow, seriously challenging too... you need hiking to get into cave's entrance. It's OK we already get use to it.

Starting of tour...

Need trekking on the way to First cave... Gua Pagar

The first entrance to the cave we had been briefed by Uncle Adam about the cave do's and don'ts you have to follow while you were in the cave. For example…you cannot touch the formation inside the cave... why? I think I already explained this in my previous entry on Mulu cave tour. The reason still the same... it will change the color of the formation if it is in contact with human skin. Uncle Adam ade cakap juga, kalau nak wat caving you kena pakai macam angkasawan... so, faham2 lah maksud dia.... ayat tersirat.

While tour inside the cave, you may found so many unique and fantastic limestone formation… welcoming frog, Michael Jordan Shoe, Cave curtain, Elephant’s trunk and so many others. And not forgetting “Guano”… not limestone formation but kind of bat’s output. Uncle Adam did explained everything unique, we could find inside the caves and His explanation really-really interesting and useful… especially to young generation like us.

Beautiful Stalactites formation you could see at the entrance of the first cave

Unique flora you may found at this cave... Vaughan's Balsam

Spider web on the ground... one way of protecting themself

Welcoming frog at Gua Pagar

Can u imagine this

After the first cave, we proceed to Gua Keris. On the way to Gua Keris you need to walk about 10 minutes from first cave to reach the next cave entrance that will lead you the Gua Keris. Kena trekking lagi. Before nak reach Gua Keris, kena pass another cave... not sure what its name but after tangga jer kena jatuhkan badan skit and meniarap nak melepasi laluan sempit dipermulaan nyer saja. Kejap jer pun. Lepas tu boleh berdiri secara normal balik yea and proceed.

Entrance to Gua Keris

That is why...it is called Gua Keris... fantastic limestone Keris formation, combination of Stalactite & Stalagmite

Unique Formation

Cave flow... cause the formation of the above Column limestone formation

You could see the cave flow is in the middle... the darkened side

Not only the unique limestone formation, you could see the beautiful of stalactites and stalagmites during you tour inside the cave.

This formation looked like an elephant... the trunk maybe

Ukur kasut di kaki sendiri

View from inside Gua Keris... Awesome haa

Can u imagine this... nampak mcm rahang haiwan jer

In front of Gua Keris

Crystal Deposit Land.... it will sparkle if you pointing the light, minerals + salt

On the way back from Gua Keris, I found Pinnacle formation just like Pinnacle in Mulu. Exactly the same. I think any limestone cave will have this kind of formation. Hahaha... I really missed Mulu's Pinnacle.

Kat sini pun ade pinnacle juga

I felt bit disappointed because the cave was not properly taken care as we could see so many vandalism here and there. You could see so many unwelcomed notes inside the cave…. Aku rase ini keje budak2 muda kita lah ni. I think kelantan state should take these thing seriously because the caves could become potentially world heritage area…who knows right….could be. Macam kat Mulu, the caves are properly taken care, thus, you cannot easily enter without guide and it was locked all the time and can only be visited if there is cave tour.

The caves here maybe different from the one in Mulu but still it has its own unique value and special characteristic which we should appreciate and be proud to.
Our cave tour ended around 3pm and after that we proceed back to Uncle Adam's shop for lunch and preparation for next trip to Baha's Camp. I felt really regret after having lunch while enjoying the very powerful sambal... seriously kick. Macam mana lah aku boleh lupa aku nak kena hiking lepas tu... errrggghhh... merana tak sudah malam tu kat Camp Baha.

Julie... teringat kat Abang Baha Airforce juga.... hehehe.

Jelawang Part 1

31st Jan – 3rd Feb 2011
Dabong, Kelantan

Day 1: Meeting Point at KL Central

Seperti yang dijanjikan dari tahun lepas lagi… second after Mulu… Jelawang trip.

Penat balik Mulu tak habis lagi….Jelawang plak datang menyusul. Tapi OK juga at least I have something to spend during CNY Holiday ni kan. Aku rase every month pun ade jer activity, cuma bulan 3 ni blum sure lagi apa yea…emmhhh…still thinking.

Altogether ade 16 persons yang join this trip. Actually supposed to be 18 but out of sudden 2 orang lagi cancel the trip last minute. According to Azli, sorang ni kata dia bertunang and the other one plak tak sure lah sebab banyak sangat reason nyer n expected pun tapi agak meragukan cos macam kebetulan plak yea… mungkin juga… yelah sorang ni baru single & sorang lagi ni memang available…could be…. arghhh malas lah nak fikir… whatever.

Kami dah ready

Tak habis-habis packing lagi

Kita orang gather around 7.45 macam tu, kami yang ladies lah agak lambat skit cos nak solat dulu. Sampai2 jer, Spark dah start distribute ration, masa tu barang yang tinggal pun cuma a few jer, so, kita orang rembat je lah mana yang ade… fair n square. Aku sempat juga lah bergurau dengan Azli cakap T-rah nak join ganti Kak Ayu. Belum sempat aku habis cakap dia pun dah zuppp….berlari… cakap tiket dah cancel tadi. OMG…aku gurau jer tak tahu plak his taking it seriously… luckily aku sempat stop dia. First time aku nampak pakcik tu gelabah… hahaha. Padan muka.

All of us
Anyway thanks to Cik T-rah yang sudi send us halfway n sambil2 tu tolong snap group photo kami. Really appreciate it. Inilah baru Geng Gunung, tak dapat pergi pun but still datang give support and say goodbye. Terharu plak…huhuhu. Takpe T-rah next trip to Stong n Ayam, aku akan make sure kau join n have fun.
Since kat Gemas ade problem, if I’m not mistaken banjir, so, train kena tangguh. But, we don’t have choice other than proceed tapi kena naik Bus sampai Mentakab lah and amik train form there to Dabong. Kira macam bypass Gemas lah ni. Kira OK lah tu dari cancel terus kan. Kita orang gerak naik bus around 9pm macam tu and reached Mentakab around 12pm.
Day 2: Mentakab Train Station
Sampai2 jer….next train schedule 2.30pm. Fuhh, lama giler nak kena tunggu. Memandangkan banyak masa lagi, kita orang pun apa lagi, buat macam2 photoshoot lah kt stesen Mentakab ni… penat bergambo, pekena teh tarik plak… pastu kita orang duk lah kat tiang stesen cari port selesa nak tido. Baru jer nak letak punggung kecoh satu stesen Mentakab…. Opps ade Babi sesat… babi tu pun duk ke hulu ke hilir juga lah berlari nak masuk hutan balik….. hairan bin ajaib mana plak lah muncul nyer….. hahaha lawak giler. Sayang aku tak sempat nak snap photo dia since kita orang pun tengah siap sedia nak selamat kan diri kot2 dia datang nak menyondol.
Train sampai as per schedule and finally naik pun train. Kita orang amik koc E1 yang ade katil tapi kita orang booked 4 jelah, so, as promised gilir2 lah tapi sudah nyer nyenyak tido sampai lupa kat Kay n Huzz…sorry ek aku off handset. Tapi aku sempat tido 4 jam je pun… selebih nyer kita orang gi makan2 kat café n sibuk bergambo tak habis2. First time lah kata kan. Apa pun memang best juga yea naik train nie… orang cakap tak selesa nak tido cos nanti goyang2 tapi aku nyenyak jer. Siap mimpi2 indah lagi…hehehe.
